ALBANY, GA (WALB) - One Dougherty County high school is offering a special certification program for students interested in engineering.
Monroe High School offers a three-year pathway program in engineering and technology.
Any student can enroll in the program and spend that first year learning about the program and deciding if it is for them.
After year three, they can actually earn a certification in engineering.
“What I love about the pathway is that the third year students, my students who take the engineering application, the students have to take a state exam, so through this state exam, the students actually get a certification in engineering and technology,” said Wanda Jenkins, the school’s Engineering and Technology instructor.
The students can go on to college or university with the certification and become an engineering technician. They can also become an assistant to an engineer.
