Dougherty Co. car salesman indicted for racketeering

First Alert Desk: Crooked Car Salesman Arrest

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Jesus Arango is being held without bond in the Dougherty County Jail on a racketeering indictment, according to the Dougherty Co. Sheriff’s Office.

Arrango was originally arrested February 14 and charged with 34 counts of theft by deception.

Investigators told WALB Thursday that Arango had a car dealership on North Slappey Blvd. and was selling cars to unsuspecting customers, but not providing them the title to the cars.

Then, the customers could not buy a tag without the title, and many complained to the Sheriff’s Office.

Arango has been arrested for this same type crime in Dougherty County in the past.

Dougherty County Sheriff’s Investigators said if you are buying a car from anyone, make sure you see the title for the car and have it in your hand before you pay any money for the vehicle.
