ALBANY, GA (WALB) -The Albany Business League is working with Albany State to host a Black History Month Teach-In about African American heritage roots about the future of the community this Saturday.
The celebration started last weekend with a United We Stand Rally at the newly revitalized Charles Sherrod Civil Right Park.
The teach-in event will happen at ASU’s West Campus with several panelists from across the state discussing civil rights, social justice, and other issues.
“I’m big on restorative justice and looking at how that can revitalize cities. How restorative justice can be used in our political system, our criminal justice system, and even our educational system. And what that means to Albany specifically,” said Pastor Joshua Nelson, Emanuel Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
The event is free and will start at 1:00 Saturday afternoon at ASU’s West Campus’ Student Center Ballroom.
