Baby bear missing from wildlife sanctuary

THOMAS CO., GA (WALB) - The Thomasville Police Department is asking the public to be on the look out for a baby bear cub that is missing from a wildlife reserve.

The little bear is approximately eight weeks old, and resembles a small puppy. He was last seen in the area of Gatlin Creek Road in Thomas County Wednesday.

The bear was rescued from the Georgia - South Carolina state line, and brought to the reserve, which has not had an animal go missing in almost four decades. Officials said the area appeared normal and undisturbed.

Police say if you have any contact with this cub, don’t be alarmed, but contact Lorraine Conklin of The Nepenthic Society at 229-228-9298.
