CAMILLA, GA (WALB) - For the 9th season in a row, the Westwood girls basketball team has cracked the final 4 of the GISA state tournament.

They’re a pair of wins away from the programs 4th state championship.

The Lady Cats are riding an 11-game win streak including a region championship and a playoff win.

Monday they practiced at home, a familiar environment, but the state semifinals might as well be their 2nd home.

This year's squad has been defined by a full court pressing defense, and a consistent inside-outside game.

It’s how they’re outscoring opponents by 24 points per game.

“The other teams try to shut down either the posts or the guards," said senior post Karlie Jones.

"If they’re trying to shut down me, we kick it to our shooters and if they shut down the shooters we kick it to the post. It’s just a great experience.”

“Guard play is tough, Brianna Thompson, we have Abby Santos. She just broke the school record with 10 threes," said head coach Derrick Harris.

Westwood plays Edmund Burke Thursday at 5:00 p.m.

All GISA final four games are at Georgia Southwestern State’s Storm Dome in Americus.
