ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Westover football team had the opportunity to send two more former players on to the college level.
Giving them a school record of 11 players who have signed scholarships in a year.
Westover had the opportunity to see two more of their former Patriots sign their national letters of intent today.
Ryan Flownory signed with Fort Valley State and Jonathon Glover signed with Savannah State.
Both spoke about what staying in state and playing at the next level really means to them and this school.
“I’m happy that I get to play college football,' said Flownory. "I’m the first one in my family to get to sign. Well, athletically for football. So, I’m happy about that.”
“The emotions are real," said Glover. "It’ll be great to come back and play Albany State, Fort Valley, all the surrounding teams and stuff. You say they moved from division 1 to division 2, I say football is football. The competition is still there. So, it’s all about just strapping up and going at it.”
Head coach Olten Downs hopes this trend will continue for his athletes for years to come.
