DAWSON, GA (WALB) - A Dawson woman is being called a hero after she brought nine kids to safety when strong winds ripped the roof off of a day care.
Natasha Lane was working inside Alphabet Academy Day Care on Tuesday, when she heard loud sounds outside.
She said she immediately took all the kids to find cover.
Lane said she’s thankful she was able to get all the kids to shelter and that no one was hurt.
“Like I said, I was scared but my first thing was to think about the babies that was in the day care. So I had to go into not only as a teacher but as a mother to protect my kids, protect other people’s kids. ‘Hey Natasha go do what you gotta do.’ And that’s what I did, and thank God all the babies are safe,” says Lane.
There has been no word yet on when the day care will reopen.
