ALBANY, GA (WALB) - For the past three years, Dougherty head basketball coach Rufus McDuffie has helped lead the Trojans to their best seasons in recent history.

Now, the Trojans are getting ready for their second straight playoff appearance.

The Trojans haven’t seen a 20 win season in a long time, as the Trojans finished the year with a 20-8 record.

Dougherty continues to prove themselves this season, after scoring the most points in region 4-A, with over twelve hundred points this year.

McDuffie said that his defense has to step up and be the backbone of this game come Friday night.

“All of the games except the last Americus game," said McDuffie. "I thought we played better defense. And that’s what we’ve got to do. I think we didn’t play good defense at all against Americus. We got to be, have defensive stoppers. I keep talking about those guards. As far as those three guards go, that’s how the team goes. So, we’ve got to control those guys.”

The Trojans will be on the road to take on Henry County Friday at 7:30 P.M.
