Firefighters put out fire at body shop Tifton

TIFTON, GA (WALB) - Firefighters in Tifton were able to quickly put out a business fire early Tuesday morning.

Crews responded to Newton’s Body Shop in the 100 block of Central Avenue South just before 1 a.m.

When crews arrived on scene, heavy smoke was coming from the door, according to Fire Chief Bobby Bennett.

Bennett said the main office area was on fire, while the rest of the shop had smoke and heat damage.

The fire was able to be put out quickly.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
