ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Traffic was blocked for about an hour Thursday morning when two vehicles crashed and one rolled on its side near a major city thoroughfare.
Albany Police, Albany Fire, and Dougherty County EMS all responded to help a person out of the SUV that crashed on North Monroe Street at the intersection of 7th Avenue.
A 2013 Kia Sorento driven by Kay Parker, 52, of Leesburg was traveling west on 7th Avenue preparing to turn left onto North Monroe Street, while a 2007 Hyundai Tucson driven by Aricia King, 46, of Albany was traveling east on 7th Avenue.
Parker turned left into the path of King and caused a collision, Albany Police said.
King and her passengers were transported by ambulance to Phoebe Putney for treatment.
APD said that Parker caused the crash by failing to yield the right of way while turning left, and was cited.
A tow truck came to remove the vehicles. The scene was still active as of 8:25 Thursday morning.
