ALBANY, GA (WALB) -One group of women is using Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day to give back to the community.
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. hosted a clothing and food giveaway at the Boys & Girls Club of Albany.
The women said Monday’s drive was needed in the community, especially after Hurricane Michael.
They said many in Albany have been left in need of basic items, like clothes, after the storm.
“We knew that quite a few people were in need and we are a service organization. We’ve always felt that community comes first, and that’s why we do this,” said the sorority chairperson, Carolyn Hand.
Anyone in the community was welcome to take coats, clothing and shoes for men, women and children.
