POULAN, GA (WALB) - The Georgia Bureau of Investigation released the cause of death in an incident that happened on Christmas Eve in Poulan.

The GBI said in a release that the death of Lonny Futrill, 47, had been ruled a suicide.

“So far in the GBI’s investigation, information reveals Futrill is responsible for shooting his wife and himself. No further information is available to release at this time,” the release stated.

Worth County 911 dispatched the Poulan Police Department just before 2 p.m. on Dec. 24 to a call of a woman shot, and a man who was possibly shot, GBI officials said.

Law enforcement and EMS responded to the 500 block of Commercial Drive in Poulan.

The woman has since recovered, and has been released from the hospital, the GBI sated.

The GBI and the Poulan Police Department investigated the incident.
