TIFTON, GA (WALB) - The Georgia Peanut Farm Show brings more than $1 million dollar in economic impact to the city of Tifton.
Organizers said farmers eating, sleeping and shopping in Tifton benefits the economy.
More than 100 exhibitors and 1,000 farmers came to Southwest Georgia Thursday for the event.
Farmers came to the peanut show for educational sessions and technology updates.
Officials said that if you include the county, it’s possibly a $2 million impact in one day.
“While they’re here they’ll stop at several locations, tractor dealers,” said Tyron Spearman, coordinator for the Tifton Tourism Association. “We have a supermarket of equipment but they’ll be buying this year, MSI, so they’ll stop there and spend a lot of money there as well.”
The peanut show ended at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday.
