ALBANY, GA (WALB) - An illegal dump site was found in Albany on Wednesday.

Albany City Commissioner Jon Howard got a call Wednesday morning about the site, which was found in the 1500 block of Henri Avenue.

Howard said that he and Judy Bowles, the executive director of Keep Albany-Dougherty Beautiful, went through the trash and were able to find mail that pointed them to a house on the street.

Howard believes that someone was either evicted from their home and decided to put the trash there or their landlord did it. He also wants the community to know that illegal dump sites are making Albany look dirty.

“We are constantly running across these neighborhood sites in the community and in Dougherty County of individuals throwing stuff in the bushes, roads, and it is really making the city of Albany look like a dump," said Howard.

Howard wants to remind the community that if you are caught illegally dumping, you can be fined.
