ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Dougherty County Public Information Officer Wendy Howell wants to make sure you know that they are only picking up debris from the curb.
Howell says they have seen situations where people are putting other items that have been damaged in Hurricane Michael in their debris pile.
Howell says that if metal, fencing, wire, or anything besides debris is in your pile, it will not get picked up.
“Make sure that it is completely separate. Your metal, fencing, anything that was damaged from the storm. That is a separate pile and that it is on the right of way of your street. You can be sure that they will pick it up if it is separated appropriate,” says Howell.
Howell encourages the community to be patient and says the county will get everyone’s debris picked up.
