MITCHELL CO., GA (WALB) - The driver in a early Tuesday morning crash on Highway 19 was charged, according to Georgia State Patrol (GSP).
GSP said Chadrea Bell was charged with failure to maintain lane and driving with wrong class license. A GSP trooper said the driver only had a learner’s permit.
A Mitchell County Sheriff’s Deputy said a driver fell asleep at the wheel after working all night and veered off the road.
The vehicle at fault, a Chevy Cavalier, was traveling northbound in the left lane. The driver’s tires went into the center median and the driver yanked the steering wheel. The driver over-corrected and struck another vehicle, a Chevy Impala, GSP officials said.
The Chevy Cavalier struck the guard rail and went into a creek off the side of the road. The Chevy Impala came to a stop in the center median.
No injuries were reported.
The crash happened near the Mitchell County line.
