Man sentenced after pleading guilty in 2016 Fitzgerald murder

FITZGERALD, GA (WALB) - A judge has sentenced a man after he pleaded guilty to malice murder and armed robbery on Friday.

George Gilstrap, 24, pleaded guilty to both charges in the death of Narendrakumar “Bob” Patel at the Global Meat Market on August 9, 2016, according to District Attorney Bradford Rigby of the Cordele Judicial Circuit.


On Friday, Gilstrap was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole.

A release from the D.A.'s office said Patel owned the the store on Merrimac Drive where he was shot in the chest during an armed robbery. The release also stated Gilstrap confessed to shooting Patel during the robbery in 2016.

Nicole Reliford is a co-defendant in the same case. She has been charged with malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault and armed robbery. The D.A.'s office said her charges are still pending for trial.
