Chehaw asks for volunteers to help clean up storm debris this weekend

Chehaw still cleaning up after Hurricane Michael

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Chehaw is asking the community for help in order to get the park back to looking like it did before Hurricane Michael.

Ashleigh Kelly, the education specialist, said you can come out Saturday and help pick up debris.

“Volunteers that are interested can come out even if you have an hour or two to give, we appreciate anytime that is donated,” said Kelly.

Kelly said Chehaw needs debris moved fast in order to get ready for upcoming events.

“We are going to be working on the area for the annual Frontier Festival and please bring any gloves and tools that you have that you can donate as well as time and you will want to bring your own lunch and water,” explained Kelly.

Kelly said she hopes that people will come out and help.

“Here at Chehaw, we ask everyone that has the time and energy to donate their time. We appreciate it because Chehaw, again, adds value to the community and we want to get Chehaw up and running and back to how it was prior to Hurricane Michael so that we can give families and friends the experience that they had once before,” Kelly said.

If you want to volunteer, you can show up at Chehaw Saturday or Sunday morning at 9.
