Dawn Hobby is the News Director at WALB-TV.
Prior to her promotion in January 2013, the Emmy award winning journalist anchored the evening news for WALB News 10.
Dawn began her broadcast career as a producer at WALB, later becoming a reporter and anchor.
She launched the news operation for Albany station WFXL, then five years later returned to WALB.
Dawn is an award winning investigative reporter and has received numerous state, regional and national broadcast honors for her coverage of live, breaking news.
She has received top honors from the Georgia Association of Broadcasters, the Associated Press Broadcasters Assn., as well as Green Eyeshade Awards for Excellence in Journalism from the Society of Professional Journalists.
Dawn holds three of the prestigious Golden Viddy Awards, bestowed by the National Academy of Television Journalists. She was named Best Female Anchor and awarded for Best Investigative Reporting.
In November 2004, Georgia Trend magazine recognized Dawn as one of the state's most influential journalists in its "Who's Who in Georgia Media" issue.
She was again recognized by Georgia Trend in November 2005, in the magazine's "Who's Who in TV News" cover story.
In 2007, and again in 2009, the Georgia Association of Broadcasters awarded Dawn the GABBY for "Best TV On-Air Personality."
Dawn received an EMMY Award from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Southeast in 2011 for her work on the "Gulf Oil Crisis" special report.
Dawn is a graduate of the 2011 Raycom Media Leadership program, and a 2012 graduate of the Poynter Leadership Academy at The Poynter Institute in St. Petersburg, FL.
In March 2014, Dawn was chosen as a Fellow in the Carole Kneeland Project New Media Leadership Program in Austin, TX.
Dawn serves on the Board of Directors for the Georgia Associated Press, and in April 2014, she was appointed to the Raycom Media News Directors Advisory Board.
Dawn has one son, and is married to Atlanta author and commercial pilot Russell Still.
