An Albany City Commissioner took issue with our Viewpoint Tueday, and we would like to make a clarification.
In our editorial, we encouraged city leaders to work hard to solidify a long-term deal to keep the South Georgia Wildcats in town.
Commissioner Roger Marietta accused the Wildcats of inflating their economic impact, and we said he voted against a one-year contract with the Wildcats.
That is true, though Marietta later voted for the final deal signed with the team, and even offered the resolution asking for its approval.
Morris Gurr was the only commissioner who voted against the final contract.
