Like so many of you, we mourn the passing of retired Assistant Albany Police Chief Bob Boren.
In his 17 years of service with APD, Chief Boren worked diligently to ensure officers were treated fairly, and he worked to make sure deserving officers got raises and promotions.
Bob Boren had a vision for Albany's Police Department, and part of that vision became reality with the construction of the Law Enforcement Center at Oglethorpe and Washington.
He was a driving force behind its construction and regarded its completion as one of his most rewarding accomplishments.
We believe the Law Enforcement Center should be named for him. We hope our city leaders will recognize his significant contributions and let that building serve as a permanent tribute to Chief Bob Boren.
