ViewPoint: Take precautions on the road this weekend

August 30, 2007

Another holiday is upon us, and many of us will be on the road this weekend.

The heavy traffic is compounded by the start of high school football on Friday night, and the beginning of college football on Saturday.

It's shaping up to be a great weekend, the heat wave seems to have broken and we're even getting a little rain. But all this fun will end in tragedy for far to many people.

There will be 2,000 wrecks on Georgia roads. One thousand people will end up in the hospital. And likely about two dozen people will die. We don't want you to be a part of that.

On weekends like this, give yourself plenty of time to get where you are going. And if traffic slows you, so be it, better to be late than to become a statistic. Have Fun this weekend, but be careful.

We want you safe and sound, back here next week.
