Tornado Victim Funerals:

Americus victims:

43 year old Jerry Dukes - funeral Wednesday at 1 PM at Friendship Baptist in Americus. He died at a friend's duplex on Oglethorpe Ave.  Services handled by Poteat Funeral Home in Albany

53-year old Carrie Willis Gaines - died at her duplex on Oglethorpe Ave. in Americus
Funeral Saturday at 1 PM at New St. Mark Church behind IGA right off US 280 in Americus - T.V. Williams Funeral Home in Richland

Newton victims:

40-year old Daron Owens, 36-year old Phyllis Thomas Owens, 12-year old Kursty Thomas, Died at Route 2, Newton.

Funerals Friday at 2PM - Thankful Baptist Church in Baker County - services handled by Poteat Funeral Home in Albany

45-year old Joan Brinkley, 42-year old Willie Sue Brinkley, Died at Drennon Circle, Lot 37

Funerals Saturday at 11 AM at First Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Newton - Ward Funeral Home in Dawson

9-year old Kierra Crumbley, Died at Drennon Circle, Lot 37, Funeral Saturday at 3 PM at Pleasant  Grove Baptist Church in Newton - Robert Jester Mortuary in Camilla

 

Taylor County victim:

48-year old Wallace Culverhouse was visiting friends when a tornado hit their mobile home near Butler. The man and woman he was visiting survived.

His funeral was last Saturday. Handled by Edwards Funeral Home in Butler.

    South Georgia is full of dirt roads and in Baker County officials are concerned with the amounts of expected rainfall.  "Anytime we have a rain event, we are definitely concerned about people in the county being able to travel the dirt roads," said Sherry Bailey, Baker Co. Manager and EMA Director.

    County leaders Early County are keeping an eye on the flood watch...preparing for the worst.  The county's EMA Director has been watching the weather closely since Thursday in preparation for the storm.
