Arsons under investigation

January 29, 2007

Albany  --  Fires were set inside an East Albany apartment construction site Friday and Saturday nights.   The apartments are at the corner of Brierwood and Mock Road, just behind the Post Office.

Artesian Construction is building them for the Albany Area Resource Center. Friday night about 9:15PM firefighters were called to the apartments, and found six small fires set inside two units. The damage was minimal.

Then Saturday night about 9:00PM, firefighters were called again to the construction site. This time the fires were set in bathtubs and on the floors, and burned up walls and ceilings.

Firefighters estimated the damage at ten thousand dollars, but construction company owner Glenn Singfield thinks it could be much more expensive to repair.

Singfield says the apartments are needed for housing A.A.R.C. Clients, and he thinks he can finish the construction on time despite the arson.
