Albany -- The Albany Police Robbery Task Force will be out in force during the Christmas holidays, because traditionally the crime rate increases in December.
Nationally, crimes like armed robbery and shop lifting increase during the holidays, and Albany Police say they are getting ready. They warn businesses to take precautions as well, and keep a vigilant eye for suspicious customers.
"To cut down on opportunity business have to become victims of crimes, always greet people when they come in that door," said APD Lt. Kenn Singleton. "Make sure people know I've made eye contact with you. I see you."
Albany Police also suggest businesses deposit their sales receipts at the bank more often, and call Officers for an escort to the bank.
