Get back to nature in Mitchell County

October 12, 2006

Pelham -- Mitchell County promotes itself as a great place for eco-tourists-- visitors who like to enjoy the great outdoors.

You can do that at Flint River Park. The county developed  16-acres on the banks of the Flint in north Mitchell County. You can picnic, fish, or camp here.

Flint River Outpost is located at the park and rents canoes and kayaks and provides shuttle service for a day of relaxing family fun in nature.

"They see alligators, turtles, lots of turtles. The fish jump all the time. The turkey fly across the river. Deer every now and then. Lots of birds," said Flint River Outpost Owner John Singletary.

You can take a half-day, full-day, or overnight trip down the river.

Flint River Outpost also provides guided fishing trips.
