ALBANY, GA (WALB) - With school back in session, it's very important that students stay healthy.
Sherwood Acres Elementary Counselor Raymonica Davis wants to remind parents of the importance of keeping your child healthy.
"It is very important that the students come to school healthy. And the way that the parents can help is make sure the children eat a good breakfast because that is the most important meal of the day," said Davis.
Davis also stressed the importance of keeping your child mentally healthy by making sure they get a good night's sleep.
"It is very important for the parents to make sure their child gets a good amount of sleep because if they do not get enough sleep there not going to be able to focus and do their work," explained Davis. "It makes it difficult for the teacher because they may have to stop to wake the student up or let the child get some water. But if they are getting enough sleep at home then they will be able to focus at school and do their work."
Davis wants to remind parents to encourage their children and make them feel good about themselves because it will help them to become successful.
"Make sure they feel good about themselves then they will feel good about being here and feel good about doing their work and being successful," Davis said.
Counselor Davis looks forward to a healthy school year for her students.
