ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Albany Police Department responded to a call regarding a shooting in Albany that happened Saturday morning on the 100 block of Church Street.
According to APD, officers received a call around 4 a.m. from dispatch.
The victims were Toni Nunez, 27, Daquarius Williams, 31, and Antonique Williams, 37.
According to APD, the victims say they walked to an empty parking lot on the 500 block of East Broad Ave. where their car was parked.
As they were leaving the area, someone shot at the car while on Church Street.
The victims were able to get away before the engine stalled due to a bullet projectile cause a hole in the gas tank, according to police.
We spoke with residents nearby the shooting who said incidents like this are uncommon.
"It don't usually take place unless someone got in trouble or start some trouble somewhere else and they'll follow and come around here to the neighborhood and it escalates right here," explained Cody Humphrey who lives in the area. " I mean I think that people that get drunk don't know how to handle they alcohol and it leads to the trouble they bring right around here to the neighborhood, but this don't usually often happen."
Nunez was shot in the hip. She was treated at the scene by EMS, then transported to Phoebe Putney.
Williams, 31, was treated at the scene for glass fragments that struck his head and shoulder. He was released.
No other injuries were reported.
The case is still under investigation.
