ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Albany's singing cop is at it again, trying to make a change in the community. This time he's organizing a 5k race.

Officer Travis Goodson is hosting the Keep Safe 5k Race.

It will be held on September 1, in the 100 block of Pine Avenue.

All the proceeds will go toward purchasing car seats for needy families.

His goal is to raise $10,000, and organizers said they are already halfway to meeting that goal.

This will allow them to purchase 100 brand new car seats.

Albany Police will hold a separate day where officers will show families how to properly install the seats.

"Not only do they have the ability to own their own car seats, they have the education necessary to keep our children safe," said Goodson.

To get involved, you can register to run or simply donate on the Keep Safe 5K website.
