ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

A new law that involves school buses has raised some concerns for parents here in Albany.

The law states that previously, drivers traveling in the opposite direction of a stopped school bus on a four-lane road with a turning lane in the middle had to stop.

Now, those drivers are not required to stop, which has raised some concerns for parents here in Albany.

Kenneth Williams, the transportation director for Dougherty County Schools, said that they are still going to do everything they can to make sure all students are safe.

"What we want to do is let the public know that we are doing anything that we can, all that we can to ensure student safety so if the driver sees a car is coming, that look like they're not going to stop, then the drivers know not to release the students," explained Williams.

Williams said his bus drivers are all aware of the new law.
