ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital's Sports Medicine program is growing, and this is good news for student athletes.

Will Sells, the manager of the athletic trainers at Phoebe, said they have gone from having three trainers to now having 10.

Sells said now they are able to service 15 high schools, one college and one university in Southwest Georgia. He said now that the program is expanding, they can reach more students and parents in the community.

"We're out at high schools and helping out as far as the athletes. But we're also able to talk with family members, and so forth. So it's just a great relationship we expand from the hospital," explained Sells.

Sells also said now that they have a larger sports medicine team, they will be able to travel and speak at schools to tell students about careers in Sports Medicine.
