VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - Move-in day for Valdosta State University wrapped up around 5 p.m. on Thursday.

On Thursday, more than 500 student volunteers helped nearly 2,000 students move into their dorm room.

Students and parents began unloading their cars at 8:00 Thursday morning.

Student Body Government President Jacob Bell also volunteered to be a part of the moving crew and said it was an emotional day for everyone.

"Our students are excited, our parents aren't quite as excited. So, we try to ensure that we make them feel comfortable, that we make them feel welcome and that we make sure they feel like they're a part of our family from day one," said Bell.

This is the second year that VSU has moved all students in on the same day.

Classes start on Monday, Aug. 13.
