Ri'Shawn Bassette

Ri'Shawn joined the WALB news team in August of 2018 as a multimedia journalist in the WALB Valdosta Bureau.

Although Ri'Shawn is a proud Hampton, Virginia native, he ventured to central Virginia for his college experience. He graduated summa cum laude from Longwood University in May 2017, with his bachelor's in communication studies in digital media.

Ri'Shawn joins WALB from WTKR News 3, in Norfolk, where he worked as a production technician. Before that, he was a radio station DJ in college for WMLU 91.3. He was also lucky enough to volunteer for MSNBC for the 2016 Vice Presidential Debate and witnessed the event in person.

During his undergrad years, Ri'Shawn also was a part of the Cormier Honors College, served as the host for Longwood's Got Talent 2016, and was also the president of the NAACP Youth and College Division.

Ri'Shawn also graduated from Hampton High School with highest honors. "You can't crush a crab!"

Ri'Shawn enjoys spending his free time hiking, hanging out with friends, and traveling.

He looks forward to his time as a storyteller in Georgia!
