ALBANY, GA (WALB) - All Second graders in Dougherty County will now take a field trip to the Albany Museum of Art.
Museum officials said they have been working toward this partnership with the Dougherty County School System for years.
Director of Education Chloe Hinson said a lot of teachers do not have an art background so this is a way for the students to get the full art experience.
Teachers will be given pre-field trip exercises and lesson plans for their class to complete and be prepared for when they come to the museum.
"It ties in with their standards, what they are studying, what they can expect at the museum and when they get here we take a tour and we do gallery activities and games and talk about the paintings," explained Hinson.
Second grade students will be begin visiting the museum at the beginning of the upcoming school year.
