ALBANY, GA (WALB) - WALB went back to Mercedes Street Thursday evening and spoke to several people in the neighborhood where police say an Alabama man was murdered.
They did not want to go on camera, but they did tell us that they are upset about all of these shootings. They said they are ready to see the violence on their street end.
While we were on Mercedes Street, we did see the windshields the Albany Police Department said Paul was delivering when he was shot. The windshields are still leaning up against a mobile home.
There was also some glass from the passenger side window on the ground. Police said the fatal bullet was fired through the passenger window of Che'valier Kenyatta Paul's work van.
Many of the neighbors on Mercedes Street said they are concerned because they have witnessed many shootings on their street. Some said after so many shootings, they expect to hear gunshots.
APD said that cousins Dontavious Wingfield, 26 and Demond Wingfield, 19 are charged with felony murder in the shooting death of Paul, 45.
Everyone we talked with on Mercedes Street Thursday said they do not know the Wingfields or Paul.
