ALBANY, GA (WALB) - This will be the 22nd straight summer that the battle of the south basketball tournament is returning to Albany, and it starts this Saturday.
Albany state west Campus gym is expected to be packed this weekend.
There will be 20 teams made up of professional and amateur basketball players participating.
The tournament isn't just about the exciting basketball and the bragging rights.
Organizer Fred Pickett also explains how it benefits the city.
"Restaurants are full and the kids get to see, you know 80 percent of my players that come here are from overseas. They play in Korea,, in the NBA, and the NFL and the kids get to get autographs from them and everything. It just brings a lot of revenue and we're excited to bring them right here to the city of Albany," said Pickett.
Games begin Saturday morning at Albany West west campus.
