Eagles look to soar in 1 - A in 2018

CAMILLA, GA (WALB) - The Mitchell County Eagles football team is looking for redemption after falling to 1-A state champions Clinch County in the third round.

The Eagles were on a roll last year in the region after taking it by storm with a 9 - 0 record heading into the playoffs.

Newly appointed head coach Deshon Brock is looking to taking this team way past the second round this year.

With WALB's Offensive Player of the Year James Thomas under center, that future sure looks bright.

Brock says he wants to build off that success from last year and carry it to new heights for this year.

"We experienced tremendous success from our first year and we just want to build upon that in year two," said Brock. "I feel very privileged to have these kids behind me to be playing for me."

"People to step up a hundred and ten percent more then last year," said Thomas. "Really keeping up how our defense was from last year, and maintaining how that is. Keep rolling with the offense."
