THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - The City of Moultrie is offering new incentives in hopes to attract businesses to its downtown.
City leaders want to create new job opportunities, and to keep Moultrie a place where people want to live and visit.
Amy Johnson, downtown economic development public relations director, said with the demand for loft living in downtown Moultrie creates a unique opportunity for local businesses but also an enticement for new businesses.
"Downtown should be the heartbeat of every community," Johnson said. "If your downtown is not very viable, then you can't expect the rest of your community to be very viable."
Johnson said they are offering low-interest loan programs, facade grants to help update the exterior of buildings, and an Encouraging Development and Growth Efficiently, or EDGE, program to help with business expansion or the development process.
The incentives are available to any type of business.
