Customers who rely on Mediacom for their internet service found themselves off-line about 10:30 Tuesday morning.
But as of 4:00, Phyllis Peters, Communication Director for Mediacom, says internet and phone should be restored.
Engineers were able to splice some wire together as a temporary fix to get services working again, after fiber optic lines were cut.
A check of the company's website showed outages in the deep south, and the upper Midwest.
Phil Skinner, with Mediacom, confirmed that there two fiber optic lines were cuts near Atlanta, and outside Milton, Florida. Skinner says they happened around 10:30 this morning.
An underground line near Pensacola, Florida was damaged during a construction accident. Another line was partially severed about three miles outside Albany.
