DOUGLAS, GA (WALB) -

One South Georgia church has 36 members stuck in Haiti currently due to airlines being unable to fly out because of riots and protests taking place.

Senior Pastor Chris Watson of GracePointe Church in Douglas told WALB riots and protests have prevented his members from being able to leave.

"They've been in a relatively safe area, but from the reports, it may be spreading throughout the country at this point, the last I heard," said Watson.

Watson said the team of 36 should be able to return home as early as Wednesday.

The members are in a safe area and are able to travel, but because of the riots, flights out of the area have been canceled.
