A view of the world through virtual reality with the Dougherty Co. Library

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Adults and teens can now view the world through a different lens at the Dougherty County Public Library downtown.

The library has a new virtual reality tool on display as part of their Summer Reading Program.

You can experience different areas of the world through this system as if you were actually there.

With the system, you can go anywhere on a map, for instance - France to view the Mona Lisa.

Library staff tells us this is an opportunity for people to learn and research different areas in the world.

"The purpose is to let people experience something a little bit different being able to travel across the globe at one time and see everything. Travel through different art museums to see different pieces that normally here in Albany, we wouldn't get a chance to see," said Christina Shepherd, Head of Reference at the Dougherty County Public Library.

The Library has offered this opportunity several times this summer and plans to bring it back in September.

They also plan to bring a travel virtual reality tool for people to experience what dementia patients go through on a daily basis.
