ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Real men can cook - that's the message at this year's Phoebe Men's Health Fair at Albany State University.
This Father's Day weekend, Phoebe and numerous volunteers had one goal in mind - to teach men healthy habits they should practice every day.
Event organizers tell us more than 400 men went to the fair.
They learned how to cook healthy foods and got free blood pressure, cholesterol and diabetes screenings.
Community Benefit Coordinator Darrell Sabbs says it's important for men to learn about prevention.
"The how to's to being able to eat better, to exercise more, to take care of their health because traditionally men come to the hospital or take care of their health when it's almost too late," says Sabbs.
The men who went also had the opportunity to taste healthy food from some Albany-area restaurants.
