SYLVESTER, GA (WALB) - One South Georgia city wants to beef up its weekly farmers' market this summer.
Karen Singletary, the Main Street Manager in Sylvester, said Friday that the Downtown Sylvester Farmers' Market needs more vendors.
Right now, only a couple produce and honey vendors set up shop at the market on the porch of the historic train depot every Saturday.
According to Singletary, those vendors do typically sell out of what they have.
However, she said she has a vision to boost vendor numbers. She hopes to add many more vendors selling produce, but also add vendors with things like homemade crafts and baked goods.
"We would love to have 15, 20 vendors, and we could take more," she explained. "That many will fit on the porch, but yeah we can grow."
Singletary said she will waive the $5 table fee for any vendor who wants to try the market out for a week.
To become a vendor, just call the Sylvester Main Street Office at (229) 773-7716.
The Downtown Sylvester Farmers' Market is open on Saturdays from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. until November.
