ATLANTA (AP) - Gov. Nathan Deal says a manufacturer of household appliances is investing $55 million in a new distribution center in Commerce, Georgia, and will create 100 jobs.
In a news release Thursday, Deal said Louisville, Kentucky-based GE Appliances already has a strong presence in the state, with 1,960 employees at Roper Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary in LaFayette, and 50 employees supporting its Factory Service Operations in Atlanta.
Deal says construction of the new Southeast Region Appliance Distribution Center in Jackson County will be completed by April 2019.
GE Appliances Vice President of Distribution Mark Shirkness says the new project will help the company build on their record of delivering "for our customers."
