71 traffic citations handed out in Bainbridge in 3 hours

Seventy-one citations were issued in just three hours in Bainbridge Friday evening.

Southwestern Traffic Enforcement Network conducts traffic checks across 12 counties in Southwest Georgia once a month.

Some people were arrested in Bainbridge for driving with a suspended license, without a license or for more severe reasons.

"Driving under the influence and that would definitely not make you feel safe when you know someone else is operating a vehicle on the roads of the city or county under the influence. It endangers everyone," said Deputy Director Frank Green.

Officials said the number of citations could easily be decreased and roads could become safer if drivers would stay home or get a ride from someone else.
