VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

Some kids in Valdosta will be 100 times cooler this summer as they received a special gift just in time for the summer.

Fifty kids to be exact, received free pool passes for the entire summer thanks to community leaders.

Roy Taylor, owner of Jungle Jyms, donated a $500 check to Councilwoman Vivian Miller-Cody.

She, in turn, decided to spend the money on the pool passes for kids who live around and attend the Mildred Hunter Center located near the Hudson Docket Housing Authority.

"We have a lot of children in our area that don't get a chance to go to the 'Y', a lot of these kids have never even been to Wild Adventures, a lot of these kids have never even been to the YMCA, but they want a chance to be able to get in a pool," explained Miller-Cody.

Miller-Cody said that she is looking to sponsor another 15 to 20 kids and needs the community's help to do it.

To donate, contact Vivian Miller-Cody at (229) 630-0098.
