And learning how to deal with failure is an important skill that young students learn in Thomasville.From kindergarten to second grade, students used engineering to practice this coping skill at Scott Elementary.Faith Shiver, co-director of the STEAM camp, said these opportunities are invaluable for the students, because it allows them to become succeed after failure."That's one big thing in these lessons. They're called soft skills, I guess, and perseverance is one of those soft skills students really need," said Shiver.Shiver added that the trial and error method enables these students to become less afraid of new challenges, making them more eager to learn and ask questions in the classroom.
