THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - In the case of emergencies, your location is the most important information for emergency services. So, Thomasville police urge you to make sure your address numbers are clearly visible from the street.
Assistant Chief Eric Hampton of TPD said, there's too much guesswork involved in answering emergency calls, because EMS can't figure out which house is yours - because it isn't clearly marked. And when seconds count, that wastes crucial time.
"So, it is very important that you have numbers on your residence, first of all. And if you do have them, make sure they are visible so emergency personnel can see them," Hampton said.
Hampton added that a great way to avoid this problem is to make sure your address numbers and house are different colors, your porch light is on at night, and your address is on your mailbox.
