ALBANY, GA (WALB) - On the first day of the Southern Baptist Convention in Dallas, the executive committee disfellowshiped an Albany church for "intentional discriminatory acts."
The Interim president presented a report to the Executive Committee saying that Raleigh White Baptist Church had discriminated individuals based solely on the color of their skin.
The Southern Baptist report said that Raleigh White members three years ago invited an African American congregation, New Seasons Church, to share its church building.
But the report said the two churches had a conflict, coming to a head in March when they told visitors they could not use the restroom at the church.
The Southern Baptist Executive Committee said they were quote "standing against racism and prejudice."
