Two Terrell County High School alumni will have financial help with college in the fall, thanks to the NAACP's Freedom Fund Scholarships.

The organization's Terrell County Branch held its 24th Annual Freedom Fund Banquet this weekend to honor students.

Several political figures and lawmakers attended to support students and promote education.

One scholarship recipient and class valedictorian said having the support of political leaders and the organization is inspiring.

"Thank you for being such a great help in this small community. I think a lot of people out in the community do not know what you guys are doing to help us...to help everyone around us. To help the youth here in Terrell County. I just want to say thank you," said Ty'Mia Harvey, Terrell County graduate.

The funds from this banquet will continue to fund equal opportunities and scholarships in the community for many more years.
